Stewed Chicken Soup 1h/10m

Chicken soup, especially old hen soup has always been known for delicious and tonic effect is also known.

Functions:

1. Women are normally with a weak constitution, so they should take tonics or foods with the function of replenishing nutrition. However, take too much tonics is still not a good choice, through the normal intake of food to replenish energy and nutrition is much better. Therefore, chicken soup is a good way, especially for overworked people and pregnant women.
2. Chicken soups also with the function for relieve cold and improve the body’s immune. While chicken soup is not a medicine for cure cold, but it can help relieve cold and improve body’s immune, it is because chicken soup can effectively suppress body’s inflammation and excessive mucus production. Chicken soups can help reduce nasal congestion and sore throat, also reduced the times of cough. So chicken soups can alleviate the pain caused by cold.

Season: all the year round, especially in winter.

How to stew chicken soup:

Ingredients: a whole chicken in medium size, dried mushroom and edible fungus, 3 – 4 pieces ginger sliced, 1 tbsp cooking wine, 2 tbsp salt, 1/2tsp sugar.

Steps:

1. Wash the chicken and cut into four.
2. Add a small amount of cold water into soup pot, must be the cold water.
3. High heat to boil, then immediately remove and wash the chicken
4. Put the cleaned chicken into the soup pot; add water into the soup pot and the water must cover the chicken.
5. Add ingredients, dried mushroom and edible fungus, 3 – 4 pieces ginger sliced and1 tbsp cooking wine.
6. High heat for 10 minutes, then low heat simmer for 1hour.
7. Seasonings, add 2tbsp salt and 1/2tsp sugar.
8. Finished!

Remember!!! If it is an ordinary soup pot, then it needs to add enough water, do not adding water after you began the step 6, or it will destroy the taste.

Sharoe Green

Sharoe Green is a Chinese takeaway shop on the Sharoe Green Lane, it is closely to Empire, just over a few blocks. Sharoe Green is also a Chinese takeaway operates their business in a long time and which serves Catonese & Szechuan Cuisine & Malaysian Hot Meal to takeaway. A friend has recommended Sharoe Green to me and said that Sharoe Green of good things to eat, so I think I need to have a try.

This one is called Beef with Green Pepper & Black Bean Sauce; I think the taste is general. The beef inside is less tender than the China Palace. The ingredients are carrots, onion and green peppers. The black bean sauce is also quite general, if you have black pepper powder, you can cook this one and the taste should be similar as well. So, personally feel that it is quite ordinary, its does not like China Palace’s beef dishes giving a fresh feel to eaters. Perhaps it is because beef dishes are not Sharoe Green’s special skills; there are beef dishes in their Chef’s Special. The price of Beef with Green Pepper & Black Bean Sauce and other beef dishes is 3.9 pounds.

This is the King Prawn with Ginger & Spring onion; I think taste good but a little less volume. Comparing with other Chinese takeaways’ king prawn dishes, such as BaoBao, there are normally 10 king prawns, but Sharoe Green’s king prawn dishes just have 8 prawns. Otherwise, the quality of king prawn is great. The price of King Prawn with Ginger & Spring onion is 4.5 pounds. If you want to take king prawn dishes from Sharoe Green, you can choose King Prawn with Garlic Sauce Garnished with Broccoli which is their Chef’s Special, and the price is also 4.5 pounds.

This one is Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, and comparing to the above two, this one is much better. The Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings of Sharoe Green is comparable with Yangs’ (the tastiest chicken wing in Preston I think). Sharoe Green’s chicken wings are rather special, it is a complete chicken wing, and it is very fragrant after fried, though it is not spicy but still very tasty, delicious!!! And I strongly recommend Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings.

To be honest, I feel a bit disappointed. This is the first time I order dinner from Sharoe Green but might be the last time. I think the taste of Sharoe Green’s dish is quite ordinary, and the price is on the high side. The speed of their delivery service is on an average level, but they charge one pound delivery fees for order less than 15pounds when other takeaways charge zero for order over 8 pounds. So it is not economical, especially for one person.

If you really want to have a try of Sharoe Green, then the recommendations are please try their salt and pepper dishes which might good!

China Palace – Delicious Beef Dishes

Today I want to introduce China Palace, which is a Chinese Takeaway located on New Hall Lane. It does not so famous like Tasty, Bamboo or Empire those are veteran takeaways, but it also has its commendable things. At here, I want to introduce two my favorite dishes. Beef with Mixed Vegetables and Spare Ribs with Spicy Salt and Chill.

This is Beef with Mixed Vegetables. We can know there are beef and vegetables in it from the name. Firstly, there are many beef in this dish and the beef is very very tender, which is the tastiest beef I have eaten in Preston. Mixed vegetables include mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, green peppers, carrots and bean sprouts. Because I love bean sprouts very much, so every time I would ask for extra bean sprouts. Personally feel it taste very good, and worth to have a try. In addition, the price is 3.8 pounds which is cheaper than other store’s beef dishes, the beef dishes in other Chinese takeaways are generally around 4 pounds in Preston.

This one called Spare Ribs with Spicy Salt and Chill, a friend recommended to me, and now I recommend to you. Ribs have been pre-fried, very fragrant, and the surface still with a little crisp. Ribs and the ingredients (scallion, green pepper and onion) are both cooked very tasty, salty and spicy, really good. And there are some ribs of cartilage; do you know that mouth feel? Really enjoyable!!

I have also tried Special Foo Yung of China Palace; the price is 4.2 pounds cheaper than other Chinese takeaway stores. Personally feel it is the general taste, but one of my friends love it very much. And I have also tried their Sweet and Sour Chicken Cantonese Style, and I think the taste is not very good. As well my roommates thought that their chicken dishes are not very delicious, the chicken meats is a little tougher. Perhaps they are not good at cooking chicken. Their fried rice is also good, and I am willing to have a try their Chow Mein.

Suggestions:  If you want to have a try at China Palace, suggest you make order of their beef dishes, because I have tried several times of their beef, and it is always very tender, so I think all the beef dishes of China Palace should be great! As well as their ribs are also great. China Palace provides special offer on each Monday and Wednesday, any 3 dishes for 10 pounds, and there are around 50 dishes in choice.

The delivery service of China Palace should be ok, the distance of my home to the China Palace is about 2miles, and in general, the food can be sent in 30 minutes after I made order. Further more, their free delivery service for orders over 7 pounds, save one pound compare with other Chinese takeaways.

BaoBao ‘Baby’

BaoBao is a Chinese takeaway located on Plungington Road, which is a veteran Chinese takeaway as well as Bamboo and Tasty. It servers both traditional Chinese dish and English-Chinese dish. Today, I called delivery from BaoBao in dinner time. Probably because my home is close to BaoBao, therefore the order was soon sent to me. I called them made my order at 18:43 and my food arrived at 18:45, amazingly quick. I heard that BaoBao’s delivery time is usually around 30 minutes, great efficiency. Commendable delivery services!

The following picture is the order today I have made, the first one is King Prawn with Oyster Sauce and the second one is Duckling with Garlic& Pepper Sauce.

This is King Prawn with Oyster Sauce, a friend recommends it to me, and she said this is her favorite dish of BaoBao. After tried, I think it tasted good. It is worth mentioning that BaoBao’s prawn, very fresh; it not like the frozen prawn which sold by the supermarket, the prawn quality is really good. Comparing with some Chinese takeaway, BaoBao’s king prawns are much better. Within the King Prawn with Oyster Sauce which in addition to prawns, as well as Chinese cabbage, carrots, mushrooms and onions as ingredients. All in all, good taste, especially king prawn, and the number of king prawns is around 10, it should be ok. And the price is 4.5 pounds, is on a normal level.

Many friends who have tried BaoBao’s dishes are all recommended their duckling dishes; they had told me that their duckling dishes are delicious, and I tried it today, really well. This one called Duckling with Garlic & Pepper Sauce, good food, only downside is that the menu shows it is a spicy dish but in fact it is not spicy. However, doesn’t matter, although it is not spicy, but also tastes good. The duckling seems to have been pre-roasted, very fragrant, and the food weight is also quite a lot. Ingredients include onions, green onions, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and Chinese cabbage. Personal feels pretty good, worth a try, but if I order this dish next time, I will tell them add extra hot sauce. Hehe ~~~!! The price is 4.5 pounds.

In addition, I have tried Spicy Shredded Chicken in BaoBao, also very well. Spicy shredded Chicken in addition to shredded chicken, there are peanuts in it, so really savory food.

Generally speaking, BaoBao Chinese takeaway, their material is fresh, weight I enough, the price also relatively fair. Free delivery service appears when order over 8 pounds and within 3 miles, and order over 10 pounds can get two cans of Cola. In particular, if you like prawn and duckling, then BaoBao should be your best choice.

Most Popular Chinese Takeaway- Yangs

Yangs Chinese Takeaway is a newly opened Chinese takeaway shop in 2010, that place is also a Chinese takeaway before called Rainbow, perhaps because there business is not good, so they transferred their business to the Yangs’ owner. Yangs’ business now is better than it owned by Rainbow. From the view of my side, my roommates would basically order their home takeaways more than 2 times per week. Their Chef’s recommendations inculuding Hot Pot Meat in Sichuan sauce, Chicken with Winter Mushroom, Spiced Beef Brisket, Eggplant with Hot Garlic sauce, Mapo Tofu and so on. Their dishes I have tried including Boiled Spicy beef, Chicken with Winter Mushroom, Spiced Beef Brisket, Spiced Pig’s Trotters, Mapo Tofu, Stir-fried Chicken’s Gizzards, Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, Salt and Pepper King Prawn, etc., basically almost all the dishes, and the overall tastes are good as well.

The dish in the picture called Chicken with Winter Mushroom, which is one of their Chef’s recommendation dishes. I have made order of this one for several times. The first time I tried that I feel it is really tasty. The chicken meat is from legs which are all very tender and smooth, and with winter mushroom and bamboo shoots, real delicious. If you like chicken dishes, you mush try the Chicken with Winter Mushroom, guarantee that you will not regret. The price is 5.5 pounds. Delicious~~!!!

This one is Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, one of Yang’s special snacks. I think this is the best salt and pepper chicken wings that I eaten in the UK, it is much better compared with the chicken wings of Preston Buffet and Oriental Buffet. Yangs’ chicken wings are very fresh, unlike the chicken wings in the buffet. I felt chicken wings in the buffets are put out for a long time after fried. In short, Yangs’ Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings is very delicious. In addition, Yangs has another chicken wings dish is Spicy and Hot Chicken Wings, if you like spicy food you can make order of this, it is very spicy and very enjoyable. Each Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings and Spicy and Hot Chicken Wings dish server 8 chicken wings, the price is 3.5 pounds, chicken wings in other Chinese takeaways are generally over than 3.8 pounds, so the Yangs’ chicken wings can be said tasty and cheap.

This one is Mapo Tofu, one of their Chef’s recommendation dishes, but personally thinks that is the general taste. To be honest, the Mapo sauce is good, but mainly because of tofu is hard into taste, so the whole is quite general. Otherwise, once we called delivery of Mapo Tofu, the tofu soup was spilled out when it sent over, so not very good impression of it.

This is Salt and Pepper King Prawn, I quite like it. There are little Britain’s iconic food, but fish and chips is one of them. The prawn outer is a little like the fish outer in the fish and chips, it is wrapped in a layer of flour outside. And then put it into the pan for fry, adding onions, garlic, and green peppers, taste good. But some people do not like deep fried food may not like this dish. Anyway, I think it is tasty, and I like it.

In addition to those picture dishes, there are several none picture dishes I also would like to introduce:

1. The first one is Boiled Spicy Beef, which is hot and spicy, very tasty. Beef and its ingredients (bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, and mushrooms) are all tasty.
2. Spiced Beef Brisket and Spiced Pig’s Trotters, personal feel that the Spiced Pig’s Trotters is better than Spiced Beef Brisket. Because the beef briskets are a bit fat and with lots of oil, so if you eating more will feel a little greasy. However, the Spiced Pig’s Trotter is really good. Firstly, the pig’s trotters are hardly to cook at home. In addition, Yangs’ Spiced Pig’s Trotters, pig’s trotters are cut in very small pieces, like eating ribs, but the also have pork flavour, and with a little spicy, very good.
3. Peppery Chicken and Sichuan BangBang Chicken is also good, if you like spicy food you can make order of Peppery Chicken and Sichuan BangBang Chicken.
4. Stir-fried Chicken’s Gizzards, also there Chef’s recommendation dishes, the taste can be said just general. I think because the chicken gizzards are big pieces, so not very tasty. If you want to make oreder of Stir-fried Chicken’s Gizzards, you may need to ask counter that cut the chicken gizzards into small pieces so that it would be more delicious.

Generally speaking, Yangs Chinese Takeaway is great. All the dishes in addition to snacks contain rice or chips and a can of drink, if you don’t need rice or chips it will reduce 50p. It is a very economy Chinese takeaway. Further more, there are special offer on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, select 3 dishes for 10 pounds, including Chicken in Curry sauce, Beef in Satay sauce, Pork with Green Pepper and other nine dishes are provided.

Yangs’ delivery service is generally about 45 minutes after you made order, a normal speed. The food is hot when the delivery comes. Only occasionally, there will some dish’s soup overflow, but just few times. Free delivery when you make order over 8 pounds.

TangKTV – popular dishes

First time went to TangKTV and loved it is because their Boiled Spicy Fish Filets, very delicious. Fish filets are very tender and tasty with Sichuan flavor, really great! Boiled spicy fish price is 10.5 pounds; there are bean sprouts, Chinese cabbages and vermicelli in addition to the fish, really tasty.

 In addition to Boiled Spicy Fish Filets, the most popular dishes of TangKTV obviously include Beef in Chill Oil, which is a necessary dish when I make order every time. The price of Beef in Chill Oil is 4.5 pound, and the main materials are beef, ox tongue and ox blinds mixed with chill sauce is very tasty. And, sprinkle with chopped green onion, sesame, peanut granules, and douse with spicy oil, it can be said a perfect combination of colour, taste and appearance.

Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, this is not the most popular dish of TangKTV, but I really like it, so I hope to introduce it at here. This dish should be much favorite by the British people. First, the pork chops has been deep fried into golden brown, so the colour is very attractive. Secondly, the pork chops was cut into big pieces, and due to deep-fry the taste is quite crisp, bite particularly enjoyable. And combined with a little spicy, is really tasty. But the price is a little expensive, 8.5 pounds.

Special Chicken Pot is Chef’s Recommendation, also one of the most popular dishes. Probably because I like spicy food, so I feel the general taste. However, there are still many people like this dish. Special Chicken Pot is loaded in a wok, and the chicken was garnished with green coriander and red pepper and some others. Chicken is still quite tender and smooth, so in general, for the people who first time goes to TangKTV, you can have a try, and maybe you will love it. Anyway it is chef’s recommendation, so it must have its attractions. The price of Special Chicken Pot is 8.5 pounds.

TangKTV

TangKTV is a Chinese restaurant offers both traditional Chinese style and English -Chinese style food. Its address is 241 Fylde Road, Preston, PR2 2NH. TangKTV serves eat in, take away also delivery service. TangKTV to do business from 2009, and now it is one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in Preston. Before re-opening of the China House, TangKTV is almost full in dinnertime every day, if you went late may not take seat.

I first went to TangKTV was in last year, with my roommates. We had dinner at the TangKTV and ten sang Karaoke, for the first time feel very good. TangKTV’s Karaoke system can be said to be the best in the Preston, nearly 6,000 songs ready to choose, including Chinese songs and English songs. If you are interested in singing, TangKTV is a very good choice. You can go to TangKTV for dinner with your friends, and then show your voice. TangKTV’s nighttime Karaoke is from 6pm-12pm. There are two sizes of KTV rooms, small room able to accommodate 8-12 people and minimum spending of 120 pounds, and the large room able to accommodate 8-12 people minimum spending of 220 pounds, including food and drink. This means that if six friends went to TangKTV together，the per capita consumption is about 20 pounds, involve both eat and play, it’s a good deal.
